RED ARMCHAIR BY RACHEL & BENOIT CONVERS
Every colourway in the RED ARMCHAIR BY RACHEL & BENOIT CONVERS range makes a specific claim on the space it occupies. White claims the coast and the pool. Terracotta claims the Mediterranean garden and the sun-warmed wall. Deep Green claims the forest edge and the clipped hedgerow. And red— deep, wine-dark, cool-toned red— claims the evening. The terrace as the light fails. The outdoor dining space where the candles are already lit and the chairs were always part of the intention, not an afterthought.
Designed by Rachel & Benoît Convers and manufactured in France, RED ARMCHAIR BY RACHEL & BENOIT CONVERS is a wide, dramatically curved shell seat built from densely spaced parallel High Pressure Laminate slats — dozens of precisely cut fins sweeping continuously from the wide shouldered crown through the cupped seat and into the reclined backrest, tracing a form that evokes the body of a manta ray, the cross-section of an architectural vault, or the profile of something that arrived from a different discipline and found furniture the more interesting challenge. In Matte Red, the slatted construction performs its most dramatic material act: the dark gap between each slat reads as a shadow line of near-black against the deep wine surface, creating a visual depth and tonal richness that shifts in quality with every change in light. Under full daylight the Bordeaux reads as saturated and purposeful. Under evening light — artificial, candlelit, or low golden-hour sun — it deepens toward something that is more atmosphere than colour.
The shell is carried on four angled legs in the same matte bordeaux HPL, cross-braced at the base with the same structural confidence and material consistency throughout. There is no tonal break, no contrast detail, no interruption — just the form and the colour, entirely committed to each other.
High Pressure Laminate construction means RED ARMCHAIR BY RACHEL & BENOIT CONVERS performs outdoors without compromise — fully water resistant, heat resistant, and UV stable, maintaining its deep wine finish through every season without fading, bleaching, or surface degradation. At 10kg, it repositions easily across terrace configurations while feeling, once placed, like a decision that was always already made.
In Bordeaux, RED ARMCHAIR BY RACHEL & BENOIT CONVERS belongs on a terrace with dark stone paving, beside an outdoor dining table set for the evening, against a dark rendered wall, or at the edge of a pool lit from below. It is the outdoor chair for the part of the day that everyone stays for.
Made in France. Finished in the colour of the last glass.
