HIBISCUS BOUCAN PENDANY BY JURAJ STRAKA
At 130 centimetres in diameter — over four feet of suspended botanical abundance — the HIBISCUS BOUCAN PENDANY BY JURAJ STRAKA is the kind of object that changes a room’s identity the moment it is installed. Not adjusts. Not enhances. Changes. The ceiling becomes a garden. The space beneath it becomes somewhere else entirely.
Designed by Juraj Straka and manufactured in France, HIBISCUS BOUCAN PENDANY BY JURAJ STRAKA is a large, flat disc pendant light constructed from screen-printed solid laminate sheet — a material that combines the precision of industrial fabrication with the richness of hand-rendered illustration. The HIBISCUS BOUCAN PENDANY BY JURAJ STRAKA colourway deploys that richness in full: the disc’s surface is covered with densely layered botanical cut forms — tropical flowers in every stage of bloom, broad leaves in the vocabulary of hibiscus, frangipani, and jungle flora, birds with spread wings half-concealed in the canopy, and botanical details that reward sustained looking long after a first glance has been satisfied. The palette spans the full warmth of a tropical sunset: deep reds, hot magentas, dusty roses, burning oranges, coral pinks, slate blues, and teal greens, with white botanical line work threading through the composition wherever the eye needs room to rest.
The exterior of the disc is finished in deep forest green — a composed, botanical exterior that presents a very different face from above and that lands beautifully against white, dark, or coloured ceilings without competing with the drama of the underside. The interior — the face you live with, the face that the room sees — is the full Hibiscus composition in complete chromatic intensity, with an exposed Edison filament bulb at the centre that adds a warm, vintage-referencing light source and makes no attempt to hide the mechanism. The bulb is included.
Suspended on a dark textile cable, HIBISCUS BOUCAN PENDANY BY JURAJ STRAKA operates simultaneously as pendant lamp, botanical illustration at architectural scale, and room-defining art sculpture installation. It belongs above a dining table long enough to hold the conversation. In an entry hall tall enough to deserve it. In a living room that decided to stop being cautious. In a boutique hotel breakfast room that wants every guest to photograph the ceiling before they’ve ordered.
At 130cm, this is not a lamp for small gestures. It is the gesture around which everything else in the room organises itself.
Made in France. Designed to make you look up.
