Finished in a deep, high-gloss black glaze, they carry a formality and restraint that plays deliberately against the figure standing beside them. That figure is white porcelain — smooth, rounded, and compact — crowned with clusters of hand-applied gold flowers and seated on a small Delft Blue base ring. Where the vases are disciplined and vertical, the figure is tactile and warm; where they are symmetrical, it is singular. The gold flower clusters catch the light differently from every angle, giving the figure a jewelled quality that the vases’ deep black absorbs entirely. 

The tray that holds all three together is what makes the composition cohere. A low rectangular base produced in Royal Delft’s signature underglaze cobalt blue, it is hand-painted edge-to-edge with a dense all-over floral pattern — small blooms and botanical motifs set against white porcelain. Royal Delft has produced this style of ceramic at its workshop in the Netherlands since 1653, and each finished piece in the set carries the authentic Delft mark on its base — a guarantee of origin and unbroken heritage.
