Polished gold spheres — five of them, mirrored and luminous — emerge from the sides of a deeply ribbed matte black porcelain body with the confidence of something ornamental that has also decided to be structural. The vase sculpture is generous and urn-like: a full, rounded profile fluted from base to short neck in tight vertical ribbing, the surface texture catching light in a way that gives the matte black glaze unexpected dimension and depth. Against this, the gold spheres operate as pure contrast. Their surfaces are highly polished and mirror-like — reflecting the room around them, each other, and the matte black ribbing of the vase body in miniature. The interplay between the absorbed light of the matte black and the returned light of the polished gold creates a visual dynamic that makes the object appear differently at every time of day and in every quality of light.
