About the Sculpture 

Laolu Senbanjo draws from Yoruba cultural tradition and merges it with a contemporary visual language he calls the Sacred Art of Ori. That signature language — a dense, flowing network of hand-drawn strokes — has been faithfully translated into porcelain by Lladró’s master craftspeople in Spain. The ornamentation team etched every stroke by hand so that each line could be reproduced with complete fidelity, ensuring the surface retains the immediacy of Senbanjo’s drawing in fired ceramic. 

The result is a surface as intricate as it is considered. Lladró’s decoration specialists applied each line in black and golden luster by hand, working across a sculptural form conceived by sculptor Raul Rubio. The interplay of matte white porcelain, deep black linework, and gleaming gold accents creates an object that shifts in character as the light around it changes — quiet and contemplative from across the room, intensely detailed and alive at close range.
