STARLING FIGURINE PURPLE
The STARLING FIGURINE PURPLE captures one of nature’s most striking sights: a murmuration, the moment thousands of starlings lift into flight together and paint the sky with shifting, cloud-like patterns. Lladró’s artists have translated that motion into fine porcelain, finishing each bird sculpture by hand to catch the iridescent black plumage the species is known for. Rendered here in a single deep purple tone, the piece brings that fleeting spectacle into a lasting form for the home or gallery.
About the STARLING FIGURINE PURPLE
Every Starlings sculpture begins as fine porcelain, shaped and detailed by Lladró’s artisans before it is fired and finished by hand. This piece combines matte and gloss glazes with gold and platinum luster accents, a finishing technique that gives the birds’ feathers their subtle sheen without breaking the single purple tone across the flock. The result is a level of detail — feather by feather — that only hand-finishing at this level of craftsmanship can achieve.
Designer Susana Rodriguez drew on real starling murmuration behavior to shape this piece, arranging the birds mid-motion so the sculpture reads as a single moment inside a much larger flock. Lladró’s design and decoration studio carried that concept through the sculpting stage, focusing on the minute ornamentation of each bird’s iridescent black feathers. Instead of the natural green and purple sheen seen in the wild, this purple edition applies one unified tone across every bird, so the eye follows the shape of the flock rather than individual color shifts.

How to Style the STARLING FIGURINE PURPLE
A piece this detailed reads best where it can be seen at eye level and given room to breathe — a console table, a floating shelf, or inside a glass display cabinet all work well. Because the purple tone is deep rather than bright, it pairs naturally with warm wood furniture, brass fixtures, and neutral walls, letting the gold and platinum luster catch the light instead of competing with it. Group it alongside other Lladró pieces for a small collector’s display, or let it stand alone as a single statement piece.
