LOLITA WHITE TABLE LAMP BY NIKA ZUPANC
In white, the LOLITA WHITE TABLE LAMP BY NIKA ZUPANC reveals a different kind of character entirely. Where colour makes a declaration, white asks a quieter question — and the Lolita answers it with disarming clarity. Designed by Marcel Wanders, this lamp sale began as a deliberate chase of female archetypes, of objects labelled frivolous and naive. What emerged instead was something the designer himself describes as the purest meaning of his work: the point at which frivolity becomes timeless elegance.
The form in white takes on an almost architectural quality. The bell dome, sealed to a high gloss, reads more sculpture than shade. The scalloped hem — a ring of pierced circular apertures running the full circumference of the flared brim — borrows from the vocabulary of lacework and fine dressmaking, yet in white it feels precise rather than decorative, structural rather than ornamental. The slender stem and flat disc base hold the composition with the same unhurried confidence as the shade above.
White is the colourway that disappears into certain rooms and commands others entirely. Against dark paint or moody wallcovering it appears as a deliberate counterpoint — clean, almost confrontational in its simplicity. In an all-white or pale interior it contributes shape and narrative without contrast, becoming part of the architecture of the space rather than an object within it. On a bedside table, a writing desk, or a console in an entrance hall, one of this Lolita in white is a lamp art sculptures that rewards the decision to look past the obvious choice.
The shade is constructed from ABS and the base from polyurethane — materials that hold the precise geometry of the moulded bell silhouette while keeping the deco art lamp lighter than its scale suggests.
