The FAR DEEP VOID S2N2 GRAY CONCRETE VASE belongs to a rare category of objects that exist simultaneously as industrial artifact, geological specimen, and functional vessel. Designed by Duccio Maria Gambi, it is born from a process as unconventional as its appearance: a block of expanded polystyrene is dissolved using acetone in a partially controlled manner, creating an irregular internal void. Liquid concrete vase sculpture then flows inside, tracing every crevice and hollow of the eroded form and setting as a thin, delicate shell that maps the rough interior surface in precise, uncompromising detail.

The result is a vessel that looks excavated rather than made — as though lifted from a volcanic field or dragged from the ocean floor. The exterior surface is a topography of pores, craters, ridges, and eruptions in deep charcoal gray and pale silver, each feature a direct imprint of the polystyrene structure dissolved beneath it. The jagged, asymmetric opening at the top reinforces the sense of natural rupture, refusing the clean geometry of manufactured ceramics entirely.

No two pieces can ever be identical — the acetone dissolution process is deliberately partially uncontrolled, making each S2N2 a unique geological record of its own making. At over 14 inches tall, it anchors contemporary, industrial, and collector interiors with raw, unflinching authority.
